What I wore: JCrew Review & work & minis & boot...

10/30/2009 / Posted by Cari (Is Not Fashion) / comments (11)

I wore my new JCrew blouse today. I love the sage. I paired it with a long strand of pearls that laid nicely in the sea of ruffles. I had belted the cardi with a silver skinny belt but took it off because I was sitting down all day. It got annoying.

My JCrew Felted-wool bistro mini came in the mail today and I rushed to try it on. This might be the most perfect mini skirt ever. I was kind of feeling down about my spare tire this week and now a MINI skirt made me feel good. So weird.

I don't believe I've blogged about my tall Chloe boots yet but I'm in love. I really can't help but touch the leather non-stop. They are gorgeous. I don't even really LOVE the color but they are just so amazing I got them anyway. Too bad I scratch/banged my foot on a cabinet last night and can't wear them until that heals. Don't ask. Flats even hurt.

2 years of blogging!

10/28/2009 / Posted by Cari (Is Not Fashion) / comments (4)

Today is my two year anniversary of my blog! How time flies! Sorry for the lack of posts. I haven't even debuted my favorite new boots yet even though I've worn them with multiple outfits :( I'm just adjusting to my new job.

I picked up the new Elle with Katie Holmes on the cover today and found a great article in their workbook section called "Money Honey." It features Susan McEvoy, an investment analyst in NYC and her personal style. I'm loving her wardrobe! I'm a huge fan of professional alternatives to boring suits. The article provides lots of inspirtaion, read it online here.

*sob* Chloe Python Paraty

10/21/2009 / Posted by Cari (Is Not Fashion) / comments (6)

I purchased a Chloe Python Paraty at the Saks friends and family sale and had it delivered. Although it was almost $1k off with the FF sale, it was still super expensive. I decided that the bag was too high maintenance (python is more fragile than leather) and too easy to be damaged for the money and returned it. I pouted a bit. My BF kept telling me to keep it because 1. I was actually pouting, 2. pythons can kill humans so it was kind of bad ass (his logic?) Even though before he saw it he called me insane. OY!

Goodbye beautiful bag :**( *sigh* I am still searching for the perfect paraty.

*Note* check out Onada's Lookbook Blog for an interview with yours truly!

What I wore: JCrew Review

10/20/2009 / Posted by Cari (Is Not Fashion) / comments (6)

Wool harbor peacoat - I love the exaggerated lapel and color. I ordered it in Thinsulate. I have another jacket with Thinsulate which I *think* has it in the arms but this coat seems not to have it in the sleeves.

Classic-stripe tissue tee- Nice long sleeves but did not fall well over the tummy (aka made me look fatter than I am)

Ruffled collier top - The bead part is very heavy. The blouse itself is very boxy and the material has a bit of sheen to it which isn't necessarily flattering. It looks okay tucked in or belted under a sweater but isn't a stand alone piece like some other JCrew blouses.
Forever Cardigan - I have this in black and decided to pick it up in deep aubergine. I really can't get enough of it. Altho, oversized cardis and short jackets? Ughs.

Super 120s high pencil skirt - Love the color but pencil skirts just don't work for me.

Alpaca long shawl cardigan - did not realize this was acrylic. It's a very loose weave but still soft. I like the color.
Tissue turtleneck long-sleeve tee - really really thin. Not sure if I like an unstructured turtleneck. Might have to go with a merino turtleneck for layering.
Midnight tweed mini - I like it. Not sure if it makes my thighs look too fat.

What are your favorite new arrivals? What stores are you obsessed with lately?

New boots new boots

Working on Saturday increases my likelihood of shopaholic-ism. I stopped by Chloe (which I never can since it's all the way on the upper east side and has short hours,) and bought these boots. <3

What I wore: out to dinner!

I found this skirt at Club Monaco. I normally don't shop there because I'm a good 1 to 2 sizes larger in that store than any other and honestly it makes me feel fat. Oh well. It was too cute to pass up!
